On a cold winter evening, little Saga walked through a quiet birch forest. The snow crunched softly under her boots, and the sky was deep blue. Without noticing, she dropped one of her warm red mittens in the snow. Saga wandered on, humming to herself, while the mitten lay behind her like a tiny red spot between the trees.
Soon a little mouse came pattering through the snow. 'Oh, a soft red mitten!' she whispered, and crept inside to warm her cold paws. A moment later, a little frog hopped up and peeked in. 'May I come in too?' she asked gently. 'Come, there is room,' said the mouse, and the frog crawled into the warm mitten.
Then a little hare came hopping between the birch trees. 'May I come in too?' he asked quietly. 'Come, there is room,' whispered the mouse and the frog. Soon a small fox cub crept up, tired and sleepy. 'May I come in too?' he asked softly. 'Come, there is room,' said the others, and the mitten became wonderfully full of warm, sleepy animals.
